My First Orchestra was born from a very personal wish: to share my love of classical music with my daughter.
As a parent to a 14-month-old, I was looking for ways to introduce her to classical music in a way that was social, playful and interactive. I found that there was something missing from many baby music and sensory classes: the opportunity for very young children to experience the richness, beauty and complexity of classical music while actively engaging with it.
So I created My First Orchestra.
As a classically trained composer and pianist, I bring my musical training together with my passion for early childhood development, imagination and creativity. My First Orchestra is about giving children a joyful first encounter with harmony, rhythm and some of the most beautiful music ever written — while encouraging them to explore, respond and make music themselves.
My daughter already has her favourites — she loves Vivaldi, Mozart and Beethoven — and I love watching her dance to them, responding to the rhythms and becoming completely absorbed. I want to create a space where other babies and young children can have that same experience.
My hope is that My First Orchestra will inspire a lifelong love of music, one little listener at a time.
